Smart Beginnings of Franklin Patrick is seeking citizen input on issues affecting children 0-5 years of age and their families. Several surveys have been posted to the Smart Beginnings website – one each for kindergarten teachers, parents, health care providers and childcare providers in Franklin or Patrick counties.
“The surveys are designed to gather information that will be used to complete a Community Needs Assessment this spring and develop a strategic plan aimed at ensuring that all children enter kindergarten ready to learn,” said Nancy Bell, Project Coordinator. “Our goal is to blend survey information with data from a variety of sources so that a true representation of needs is achieved.”
Bell said a coalition of leaders from Franklin and Patrick counties has been working since October to determine what resources currently exist, where gaps are and to consider ways to maximize resources. The completed Community Assessment will be posted on the organization’s website, she said.
“We hope people will visit the website, choose the survey that best describes their role relative to young children, and submit it before March 31,” said Bell. Survey takers may complete the surveys without identifying themselves, she said, noting that those who would like a copy of the assessment emailed to them will have that option.
